Binta Adisa, less formerly known as Iya Labule, is a seasoned serial entrepreneur and Managing Director/Co-Founder of Roots Foods Ltd, owner-operator of Labule Restaurant. Labule Restaurant is the brainchild of her passion for cooking, food service, and hospitality.
Binta is a Chartered Accountant and a graduate of Yaba College of Technology. Prior to establishing Roots Foods, she worked for Profund Securities as an Accountant and was the Head of Admin/Finance at Safeway Travels. Significant milestones in her entrepreneurial journey include establishing and running a travel agency (Travelzone Limited), production and sale of pap (Rich Pap), and a small-time outdoor catering business – with the latter two ventures being current offerings by Labule Restaurant.
Binta’s resolute approach to on-time cooking, unwavering standard for cleanliness, eye for quality & freshness and attention to detail have become the cornerstone for the production of food and operational excellence at Labule.
Olayinka Alimat Kareem is a goal-oriented, focused and articulate Professional Accountant with robust experience in financial/accounting operations, client servicing, internal control, management of payables and receivables accounts, financial report and debt management. Possess excellent communication skills and have ability to communicate professionally with both internal and external key stakeholders on detailed financial issues.
She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and has working experiences across top Nigeria companies like Akintola Williams Deloitte, Guinness Nigeria Plc. and Nigeria German Chemicals Plc (now bought over by Sygen Pharmaceuticals Ltd).
She is also an entrepreneur venturing into food processing producing local pap (Nutripap) and a distributor of body care products with Daroc Nigeria Ltd.
Roots Foods Ltd is a novel group focused on exploring unique opportunities within the food and beverage production ecosystem in Nigeria. As a business, we are charged with a sense of duty to promote Nigerian culture.
Roots commenced operations in in 2014 with the opening of our flagship Restaurant, Labule, off Ogudu Road, Lagos. And this sense of Nigerian stewardship can not only be experienced through the home-style cooking, but also the afro-centric stylized theme of the restaurant and its ambiance. Roots Foods Ltd currently operates 4 outlets of Labule in Lagos, Nigeria with plans to open more outlets across the country. Roots also produce and sell other original products such as Labule Pap and Labule Zobo.
Our ultimate vision is to service demand for authentic Nigerian cuisine and experiences no matter where the demand may be.
Hamza Adisa is the Business Development Lead for Roots Foods Ltd. He drives Labule’s mission of promoting the Naija culture through his focus on business growth and operational excellence.
Prior to Roots Foods ltd, he served as a Junior Analyst at Verraki Africa (previously Accenture) for the Technology unit and Advisory unit. His experience spans across a multitude of industries including Telecoms, FMCG retail, Public/Government, Banking and Financial services. Hamza holds a B.Sc in Engineering Science from Trinity University, Texas.
Hamza has been instrumental in expanding Labule’s footprint through outlet expansion, managing brand awareness and attractiveness, and driving the company’s strategic goals across all business units.
Joseph Olayiwola (FCA) is the Financial Controller for Roots Foods Ltd. He is responsible for the financial reporting, analysis, controls and compliance as aspect of the business. He is deeply committed to the company’s organic growth, organizational structure adherence to business standard and revenue assurance.
Prior to Roots Foods ltd, his experience spans across various multinationals including American Tower Corporation (ATC) he served as a Manager, Material Planning, ExxonMobil, Flourmills (FMN), Oando Plc, and Gems Consulting Company.
Joseph Olayiwola (FCA) is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), he holds a B.Sc Hons. with 2nd Class Upper in Accounting from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Nigeria, he also obtains his MBA from Business School Netherlands, Netherlands. He holds other numerous certifications in the areas of Project Management, Data Analytics and Business Analysis.
Joseph Olayiwola (FCA) has played a pivotal role in Labule’s leadership strategy, expansion strategy and management of cost reduction strategy with passion to drive the vision the company as the leading player in the provision and promotion of the best of traditional and contemporary Nigerian food, drinks and culinary culture in a fast-changing world in the industry.
